Sheriff Ezell Brown
Sheriff Brown has been with the
Newton County Sheriff's Office and in
law enforcement since 1973. His daily duties consist of fulfilling his constitutional obligations to the citizens of Newton County.


Throughout his tenure in law enforcement, Sheriff Brown has received countless achievement awards, accolades and distinctions through his service and community involvement. He is currently the Regional Vice President of the Georgia Sheriff Association and on the Board of Directors for the Newton County Salvation Army and serves as an Executive Board Member for Georgia Piedmont Technical College.
 
Chief Deputy Jerry Carter
Chief Deputy Jerry Carter has been in law enforcement since 1985, and is second in command under the Sheriff.  Chief Carter supervises and evaluates staff; develops, implements and enforces policies and procedures; conducts meetings and trainings with the Command Staff; directs operational activities; Completes other  duties as assigned by the Sheriff.


Chief Carter has a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice and has completed hundreds of hours in advanced law enforcement trainings throughout his career in law enforcement.
 

Major Sammy Banks
Major Banks has been in
law enforcement for over 34 years, and is responsible for administering the operations
of Uniform Patrol, Traffic Unit, School Resource, HEAT Unit, C.H.A.M.P.S. and Community Outreach.

 


Captain Tom Kunz
Captain Kunz has been in law enforcement since 1981,and iscurrently responsible for administering the operations of Uniform Patrol,Traffic Unit, School Resource,Heat Unit,

 

Captain Marty Roberts
Captain Roberts has been in law enforcement since 1985, and is currently the Commander of the Support Services Unit. He is responsible for managing the Road Crew as well as procurement of supplies.
 

Captain Brice Smith
Captain Smith is the Commander of the Detention Unit, and is responsible for administering the daily operations of the Detention Center, Work Release, Transport, Warrants, Inmate Services and other units.
 
 

Juanita Threadgill
Ms. Juanita Threadgill has been with the Sheriff's Office for
23 years. She is the Administrative Supervisor for
the Sheriff's Administration.
She is responsible for supervising the daily functions of the administrative staff.

 

Brandy Burch
Ms. Burch is the Commander who oversees Personnel, Grants and Independent Contractors. Her duties include grant management, managing financial accounts, forfeited and seized funds/property, and strategic planning.
