H.E.A.T. Unit
H.E.A.T is designed to educate the public and enforce laws related to impaired and aggressive driving. Each deputy assigned to this unit is armed with materials to educate Georgia residents about state laws that regulate aggressive and impaired driving. Education and enforcement must go hand-in hand for the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety and its statewide partners to be successful in reducing the number of crashes, fatalities and injuries on our highways. The HEAT Unit is comprised of three Deputies assigned to Uniform Patrol. This unit is part of a Multi-Jurisdictional Tack Force that is comprised of Law Enforcement agencies around the state, organized by the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, which has come together to combat aggressive driving. H.E.A.T Units are equipped with Radar and Lasers for the enforcement of speed. The Unit conducts DUI checkpoints throughout the year for the apprehension of impaired drivers.
